Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Counseling with Tracey ("I," "me," "my") collects, uses and protects information when you visit counselingwithtracey.com (the "Site"). It covers the website only.
This is not my Notice of Privacy Practices. If you become a client, your health information is protected under HIPAA and California law, and you will receive my separate Notice of Privacy Practices at intake. That notice, not this page, governs your clinical records.
Please don't send health information through this website
The contact form, email and online scheduling are for general questions and booking only. Please don't include details about symptoms, diagnoses, medications or personal history. We can discuss those privately once we connect.
Information I collect
Information you give me: your name, email address, phone number, the option you choose on the contact form, and any message you write. If you book through my scheduling tool, the details you enter there.
Information collected automatically: basic technical data such as your browser type, device type, pages viewed, general location (city or region level), and how you arrived at the Site. This is collected through cookies and similar tools described in my Cookie Policy.
How I use it
To reply to your inquiry and schedule a consultation
To run, secure and improve the Site
To understand, in aggregate, how people find and use the Site
To meet legal and professional obligations
I do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and I do not use it for targeted ads.
Service providers
The Site relies on a few providers that process data on my behalf:
Squarespace: website hosting and the contact form
Acuity Scheduling: online appointment booking
Google Analytics: anonymous traffic statistics (Google signals and ad personalization are turned off)
BizOps by R.CS: website maintenance, with access limited to what's needed for that work
Each provider has its own privacy policy. I may also disclose information if required by law or to protect someone's safety.
How long I keep it
I keep website inquiries only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping. Analytics data is kept on the provider's standard retention schedule.
Your choices and California privacy rights
You can decline non-essential cookies using the cookie banner or your browser settings. California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact me using the information below. I will verify the request and respond within the time the law requires.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Analytics cookies on this Site are off unless you select "Accept all" in the cookie banner. Browsers handle Do Not Track signals inconsistently, so the Site does not change its behavior in response to them; instead, your cookie banner choice controls analytics. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, I treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, which I do not do in any case.
Security
I use reasonable safeguards, but no website or email is completely secure. That is one more reason not to send sensitive information through the Site.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information online.
Changes
I may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
